A FiveM global ban is an account ban from Cfx.re's automated anti-cheat, and it shuts that account out of every FiveM and RedM server until the time on the ban message runs out. Cfx.re's Ban FAQ on its support site says the account sees that message every time it tries to join, with the length of the ban on it. A server ban is a different thing, set by one community's admins and lifted only by them.

A lot of the confusion around a FiveM ban clears up with three details Cfx.re wrote down and few guides repeat: bans usually land in delayed waves within 24 hours of a detection, a second kind of message appears with no timer at all, and Cfx.re's advice for that one is to check back every 3-5 days. Cfx.re also added a separate account-appeal request to its help center on June 30, 2026. Below: what each message means, how to appeal, and how a server unban happens in txAdmin.

What a FiveM Global Ban Covers

A FiveM global ban covers the Cfx.re account, not one server. Cfx.re's support article says its anti-cheat looks for external programs pushing data into the FiveM or RedM game client, and the account tied to that activity loses access to both platforms. The cheat side of this, from mod menus to Lua executors, is covered where we explain the programs Cfx.re counts as cheats.

Cfx.re draws one line worth knowing. Its earlier Bans FAQ on docs.fivem.net, which still ranks first for "fivem global ban" even though the page itself is gone, said in plain terms that graphic and sound packs or modifications do not cause global bans. A visual mod that only swaps textures or audio files is not what the global anti-cheat looks for.

Reading the FiveM Ban Message

A FiveM ban message identifies the type of ban, so read it before doing anything else. The four you can run into look like this:

What you see What it means What to do
Globally banned, with a timer Cfx.re account ban Wait, or appeal if wrong
Wait out your ban, no timer An earlier ban is still running Check every 3-5 days
Kick or ban from one server That server's own ban Use its appeal channel
Server blocked, unauthorized host Not a ban on you Pick another server

The second row trips people up. Cfx.re's earlier FAQ said that message shows up when someone tries to get around the original ban in some way, and that the right move is to wait out that original ban. It doesn't say how it spots the attempt, and Cfx.re hasn't published that anywhere we found.

The last row comes from the same FAQ: a server hosted by a provider that isn't on Cfx.re's authorized list gets blocked, so the message is about the host, not about your account.

Graphic of four FiveM messages and what they mean: globally banned with a timer is a Cfx.re account ban, wait out your ban with no timer is an earlier ban still running, a ban from one server covers that server only, and a blocked server is not a ban on you.

Why FiveM Bans Arrive Late

FiveM bans arrive late on purpose. Cfx.re's earlier Bans FAQ said anti-cheat bans come in waves and are delayed, so cheat makers have a harder time working out which change got them caught, and that a detected user is typically banned within 24 hours.

That timing explains a complaint that keeps coming up in FiveM threads: a ban that shows up the day after a session, or on a day the player didn't touch anything new. The detection happened earlier. Cfx.re's current support article adds that false positives are rare because the system was heavily tested, and it tells anyone who thinks a ban is wrong to look first at the files they were running next to the game, because outside applications can interfere with FiveM and cause a false ban.

How to Appeal a FiveM Global Ban

A FiveM global ban is appealed to Cfx.re through its support site, and nowhere else. The steps:

  1. Read the message and confirm it says globally banned, with a timer. A server ban goes to that server instead.
  2. Make a list of what was running alongside FiveM when you last played: overlays, macro tools, recorders, anything that hooks into games. Cfx.re names outside applications as one way a false ban happens.
  3. Open the ban appeal form linked from Cfx.re's Ban FAQ and fill it in once.
  4. Give the facts: your Cfx account name, the exact ban message and remaining time, when you last played, and the software on your list. Skip the outrage; it doesn't change what the detection logged.
  5. Wait for the reply. Cfx.re publishes no review timeline.

Cfx.re also has a newer request type for appealing action on a Cfx account itself, added to its help center on June 30, 2026, next to a matching form for server owners appealing action against their server. Use the request that matches what was hit. Server owners who get banned while testing their own anti-cheat resource should know that Cfx.re's earlier FAQ said that ban stays in effect, owner or not.

FiveM Server Bans and How Server Unbans Work

A FiveM server ban belongs to the server that issued it. Cfx.re's client troubleshooting docs send anyone who feels wrongly banned by a server back to that server's owners, and state that FiveM itself offers no support on server bans.

Many FiveM servers run their bans through txAdmin, the server panel created in 2019 and maintained under Cfx.re's own GitHub organization, which its GitHub page puts on more than 29,000 servers worldwide. txAdmin's documentation shows how a server ban is built:

  • Every ban has either an expiration time or no expiration, which makes it permanent on that server.
  • Each ban records the admin who issued it, the reason, and the kick message the player sees, so a server ban message can show the staff member's own reason for it.
  • A ban can carry the player's identifiers and, where the server collected them, hardware ID tokens. The hardware list can also be empty.
  • An admin with the players.ban permission can ban and unban. txAdmin records an unban as a revoked action, with the name of the admin who revoked it.
  • A separate permission, players.remove_ids, lets staff delete a player's stored IDs and hardware IDs from the server's database.

So a FiveM server unban is a person on that server's staff deciding to revoke the ban, or a ban that reaches its expiration. Appeals go to whatever channel that community runs, often a ticket in its Discord, and each server decides for itself whether it hears appeals at all.

Graphic showing how a FiveM ban ends: a global ban ends when its timer runs out or Cfx.re accepts an appeal, and a txAdmin server ban ends at its expiration or when an admin revokes it.

FiveM Unban Routes That Don't Exist

Several "fivem unban" routes get passed around that don't work, and some of them cost money:

  • Paid unban services. Nobody outside Cfx.re can lift a global ban, and nobody outside a server's staff can revoke that server's ban.
  • A fresh account to dodge a global ban. Cfx.re's own FAQ described the wait-out message that appears when players try this.
  • Asking Cfx.re to overturn a server ban. Its docs say it won't.
  • Reinstalling FiveM. It changes nothing about a ban tied to an account, and a server's stored records stay where they are.

The routes that do exist are short: wait out the timer, appeal a wrong global ban to Cfx.re, or ask the server's staff. If you first need to check whether a FiveM account is banned, and whether it's a global or a server ban, that comes before any of this.

FiveM Bans and HWID Spoofers

An HWID spoofer has no effect on a FiveM global ban. Cfx.re describes that ban as one placed on the account, and it doesn't say anywhere that hardware IDs are part of it, so the account stays banned whatever the PC reports.

The hardware layer in FiveM sits with servers. When a server stores hardware ID tokens with a ban, those tokens describe the machine rather than the login, much like other bans stored against a PC's hardware. Saturn's FiveM HWID spoofer changes the hardware identifiers Windows reports, so tokens saved against the old values no longer match that PC. It doesn't touch the server's decision about you or restore a Cfx.re account, and a community that banned you still decides, under its own rules, whether you're welcome back.

FiveM coverage comes bundled with Saturn's BattlEye product, though FiveM itself doesn't run BattlEye, the anti-cheat GTA Online uses. Saturn runs in two modes, temporary and permanent: temporary keeps the changed IDs only while Saturn is running, permanent writes them once on a single profile. To try it first, the trial lasts one day; Saturn wants an email for it, not a card.

FiveM Ban FAQ

How long does a FiveM global ban last?

The ban message shows the time left, and Cfx.re doesn't publish a standard length. The account can't join any FiveM or RedM server until that timer reaches zero, unless an appeal succeeds first.

Are FiveM bans permanent?

Global bans carry a duration on the message. Server bans depend on the server: in txAdmin, a ban with no expiration is permanent on that server until an admin revokes it.

Why does my FiveM ban message have no timer?

Cfx.re's earlier FAQ said a message with no timer means you need to wait out an original ban, and that it appears after attempts to get around that ban. Its advice was to try joining every 3-5 days.

Can Cfx.re remove a server ban?

No. Cfx.re's client docs send server-ban disputes to the server owners and say FiveM won't provide support for them.

Is a FiveM global ban a hardware ban?

Cfx.re describes it as a ban on the account linked to the detected program. Hardware ID tokens show up in server bans, where txAdmin can store them alongside a player's identifiers.

Can a server owner be globally banned while testing an anti-cheat?

Yes. Cfx.re's earlier Bans FAQ said a ban picked up while testing your own anti-cheat resource stays in effect, even for the person who runs the server.
