A DayZ ban is, in almost every case, a BattlEye global ban: a block placed by the anti-cheat that has guarded the DayZ standalone game since 2013, which shuts the account out of every BattlEye-protected server at once. BattlEye's support page, as it read on October 9, 2026, treats these bans as permanent and promises no exceptions. Bohemia Interactive, the studio that makes DayZ, plays no part in them.

The harder question is whether a DayZ ban reaches the PC. BattlEye may keep hardware serial data after a detection, but the ban rule it publishes is written around the account, and neither company has said when a DayZ ban targets the machine. Server bans add a third layer, and an HWID spoofer only comes into it once the hardware itself is the problem.

Does DayZ HWID Ban?

DayZ has no published hardware ban rule. BattlEye's About page describes its global banning system as one that "can be SteamID/account-based", and that is the only ban scope it puts in writing. Bohemia's DayZ support FAQ sends every ban question to BattlEye and says nothing about PCs.

BattlEye does collect hardware data, though. Its privacy policy lists hardware device identifiers such as serial numbers among the information it processes, and says that once something is detected it typically keeps the player's IP, the name on the account or in the game, and possibly the PC's hardware serials, which it describes as being kept for identification. So a flagged player's serials may be on file, while the written ban scope stays the account.

That gap is where most of the online claims come from. One appeal-service guide that ranks for "dayz ban" says a BattlEye HWID ban blocks every Steam account on the same PC, and some AI answers repeat it, citing that guide, other appeal services and a gaming knowledge base rather than BattlEye. Neither BattlEye nor Bohemia has published that rule. Escape from Tarkov's ban rules show the same pattern in another BattlEye game: account blocks in writing, machine bans only in player reports. A true hardware ban is a ban keyed to a PC's serial numbers instead of a login, and no DayZ document describes one.

Who Bans You in DayZ: BattlEye, Bohemia or the Server

Three different parties can stop a DayZ player from joining a server, and each one works on a different scope. Mix them up and a DayZ ban thread goes in circles.

Ban type Who issues it Where it applies How long Where to appeal
BattlEye global ban BattlEye, automatically Every BattlEye-protected DayZ server, private ones too Permanent BattlEye's contact page
Server (admin) ban That server's admins One server, or every server sharing its ban list Whatever the admins set That server's admins
License termination Bohemia, under the DayZ EULA The game itself No end date given Bohemia's support contact

BattlEye runs detection on its own. Its About page says the system does the whole job without any input from the developer, and Steam's store page lists DayZ under "Uses Kernel Level Anti-Cheat: BattlEye", meaning its BEDaisy.sys driver is one of the anti-cheat drivers that load into the Windows kernel. Founded in October 2004 as an outside add-on for Battlefield Vietnam, the anti-cheat behind every DayZ global ban moved into Bohemia's Arma games and protected the DayZ mod from 2012.

Bohemia, for its part, keeps out of it. Its DayZ FAQ says the ban system is run by BattlEye and that Bohemia has "absolutely no involvement" in detecting cheats or handling bans. Bohemia's own lever is the DayZ EULA, which bans hacking, cheating and promoting cheats, and says the license ends if you breach it, after which you may no longer download, use or play the game. Bohemia has not published how often it uses that clause.

Server admins hold the third lever. A server host's guide for DayZ lists RCon tools that kick and ban players and reload the server's bans.txt file, and notes that one of them, EPM RCon, keeps the name, GUID and IP of every player who connected while an admin was logged in through it. Admins on CFTools, a server management platform, can ban by player identity or by IP address, even across a whole IP range.

Three ways to be banned in DayZ: a permanent BattlEye global ban on every BattlEye server, a server ban set by admins for one server or a shared list, and license termination by Bohemia under the EULA.

Are DayZ Global Bans Permanent?

Yes. A BattlEye global ban on DayZ does not expire, and BattlEye's support page says no exceptions will be made for anyone who cheated. The same page closes the usual loopholes. Cheating on your own private server still counts, because cheating is forbidden on every BE-enabled server. A ban that followed account theft or a stolen CD key stays in place, since keeping others off your account is your responsibility. And BattlEye will not share the evidence behind a ban, on the grounds that cheat makers would use it.

What Gets You Banned in DayZ, and What Doesn't

A DayZ global ban comes from cheating: running a hack, or components of one built to get past BattlEye's protection. BattlEye's FAQ says it bans only for actual cheats or those components, and that otherwise there is nothing to worry about. Its support page lists activity that never leads to a ban:

  • running ordinary programs such as Fraps or other overlays
  • picking up or using hacked items, weapons or vehicles that someone else spawned
  • being on a server at the same time as a cheater
  • other passive, non-cheating activity

Visual tools sit in a grey zone. BattlEye calls non-cheat overlays and tools like ReShade generally supported unless a game's developers want them blocked, and says it may kick, not ban, players for some programs such as macro tools without flagging them as cheaters. The same FAQ says a "Blocked loading of file" line in the BattlEye launcher carries no ban risk: it means the game process tried to load a file, and BattlEye refused it.

Server bans follow each community's own rules, and admins on private servers can remove players who break them.

Kicked or Banned? Reading the DayZ Message

A DayZ ban message names a Global Ban #ID; anything else is a kick or a server decision. BattlEye's support page says the ID is printed in the ban message, in the form "Global Ban #ID", and wants that ID copied exactly into any appeal.

Most other BattlEye messages are kicks with technical causes. BattlEye's FAQ lists them by name, with a fix for each:

  • Client not responding or Query Timeout: the connection broke up or timed out.
  • Bad Client Version: the BattlEye client in the game folder is outdated, fixed by verifying the game files on Steam.
  • Bad Service Version: the BattlEye service is outdated or not running properly.
  • Corrupted Memory #0: low-level software on the PC made a disallowed memory call; BattlEye names MSI Dragon Center and the MSI SDK as recent culprits.
  • A request to restart the game: BattlEye's install was declined earlier, and Install_BattlEye.bat in the game folder fixes it.

None of these are bans. A server ban looks different again: only that one server, or the servers sharing its list, turns you away, and other servers still let you in.

How to tell a DayZ ban from a kick: a Global Ban #ID message is a BattlEye global ban that blocks all BattlEye servers and is appealed to BattlEye, while messages such as Query Timeout, Bad Client Version and Corrupted Memory #0 are kicks you fix and rejoin.

How Do You Check a DayZ Ban?

BattlEye offers no public lookup for DayZ bans, so checking one comes down to three steps:

  1. Read the kick message. A Global Ban #ID means BattlEye; write the ID down before doing anything else.
  2. Try a second BattlEye-protected server. If it refuses you too with the same ID, the ban is global. If it lets you in, the first server banned you.
  3. Ask the server's admins. A refusal on one server, or on a group run by the same community, usually comes from that server's ban list.

That last step is what most "DayZ ban checker" searches are after. Shared lists such as CFTools ban lists and the Community Ban List record server-level bans that communities choose to share. CFTools describes its ban lists as private by default, usable by other servers through a share code, and able to earn a listed or verified status once they meet its criteria for reach and activity. None of these lists show BattlEye global bans, and none can lift one.

Can You Still Play DayZ After a BattlEye Ban?

Yes, on servers that don't run BattlEye. Bohemia's DayZ FAQ says banned players can open the in-game server browser, go to the filters and switch "Battleye required" from "Default" to "No". Every server that requires BattlEye stays closed to the banned account.

Can You Appeal a DayZ Ban?

Yes, but only BattlEye can review a DayZ global ban. BattlEye's support page sets out what it needs:

  • the Global Ban ID from your ban message, copied exactly, plus the name of the game
  • if no ID was shown, your game account identifier, such as your SteamID
  • a single ticket, sent as a ban appeal through BattlEye's contact page and nowhere else

Repeating an appeal, or mailing it somewhere else, does not move it up BattlEye's queue. Bohemia's FAQ also points banned players to BattlEye. A server ban is appealed to that server's admins, and Bohemia support only matters for questions about the license or the game itself.

What a BattlEye appeal for DayZ needs: the Global Ban ID copied exactly, the name of the game, or your SteamID if no ID was shown, sent as one ticket through BattlEye’s contact page only.

What Clears a DayZ Hardware Ban

Nothing clears a BattlEye global ban on an account except a successful appeal. That is the first limit to know, and most DayZ bans sit entirely on that account record.

A hardware ban works on a different layer. If a ban has reached the PC itself, the record is tied to the identifiers the machine reports. An HWID spoofer gives the PC new values for those identifiers. Saturn rewrites the motherboard, CPU, TPM, RAM, disk, GPU and USB serials, the monitor EDID, the MAC address and UEFI variables, which is the usual list of the hardware serials a spoofer swaps. A record made against the old values then points at a PC that no longer exists.

Saturn is built to spoof hardware IDs on Windows PCs and ships no cheat. It covers DayZ with Saturn's DayZ HWID spoofer, the same product that covers FiveM and Escape from Tarkov. DayZ players get a 24-hour free trial on an email address, with no card on file. You choose between Saturn's temporary and permanent profiles. Temporary profiles are unlimited and spoof only while Saturn is open, so your real IDs come back the moment you close it. A permanent profile writes new IDs to the PC for good, and you get one of them.

Keep the scope in mind. Saturn leaves a BattlEye global ban, and everything else tied to your Steam account, exactly as it was, and it does not help anyone cheat past BattlEye. A ban you think is wrong belongs in an appeal to BattlEye before anything else.

DayZ Ban FAQ

Are DayZ bans IP bans?

Not by BattlEye's written rules, which describe a global ban scoped to a SteamID or account. BattlEye may store an IP address after a detection, and server admins on platforms such as CFTools can ban an IP or a whole range from their own servers.

Does reinstalling DayZ clear a ban?

No. BattlEye ties a global ban to the SteamID or account, not to the game files, so reinstalling DayZ changes nothing. DayZ's Steam page also notes that BattlEye stays behind after an uninstall and has to be removed by hand.

Can Bohemia lift a BattlEye ban?

No. Bohemia's DayZ FAQ says it has no involvement in BattlEye bans and tells banned players to contact BattlEye directly.

How long does a DayZ server ban last?

As long as that server's admins decide. There is no shared length for server bans, and only the admins who set one can remove it.

Can an HWID spoofer lift a DayZ account ban?

No. BattlEye stores a global ban against the SteamID or account, while spoofing alters only the hardware values a Windows machine hands out, so the account record is untouched.
