A Rainbow Six Siege ban appeal goes to Ubisoft Support, and it only works for penalties Ubisoft is willing to review. Ubisoft's help pages say to contact it about a wrongful temporary ban or a permanent lock placed in error, and for a permanent lock it asks for just two things: the username of the sanctioned account and the reason for your appeal. Other R6 penalties, such as the one-year MouseTrap ban, Ubisoft says it cannot lift at all.

The rules around Siege bans also changed this summer. On July 31, 2026, Ubisoft published updated Core Rules that treat ban evasion and attempts to interfere with its enforcement as violations of their own. If you appeal, appeal cleanly, because a workaround can turn one ban into a ban on every account you own.

Can You Appeal a Rainbow Six Siege Ban?

Yes, you can appeal most Rainbow Six Siege bans, as long as you believe the penalty was a mistake. Ubisoft's temporary-ban article ends with "If you believe you wrongfully received a temporary ban, please contact us," and its article on permanent locks says the same for an account it locked in error. Ubisoft's older Siege cheating FAQ, from 2016, also told permanently banned players who weren't cheating to request an appeal through Ubisoft Support.

What an appeal can't do is reverse a penalty Ubisoft has said it won't lift, or reopen a case after a final review. Those two limits decide whether an appeal is worth your time.

Which R6 Ban Do You Have?

Rainbow Six Siege penalties come in several forms, and each one is handled differently. Ubisoft separates a ban in the game from a lock on your whole Ubisoft account, and its July 31, 2026 Core Rules list four sanction levels: temporary feature restrictions, a temporary ban from online play, a permanent ban from online play, and permanent revocation of access to the game. Sanctions can stack.

Penalty What it blocks Can you appeal?
Temporary ban Siege online play Yes, if wrongful
Temporary lock All Ubisoft services No, it expires
Permanent lock The Ubisoft account Yes, with details
MouseTrap ban Play, for one year No
Voice penalty Voice chat No

Temporary bans in Siege often have nothing to do with cheating. Ubisoft says leaving a Ranked match gives you a temporary ban plus a Renown or Rank penalty, and intentional team kills switch on Reverse Friendly Fire for the match, with account sanctions after repeat offenses. A temporary ban still lets you use other Ubisoft games and websites, while a lock shuts you out of all of them, login pages included.

Players often ask whether Ubisoft hardware-bans Rainbow Six Siege players too. Ubisoft's developers said in a 2021 AMA that hardware bans are one of the sanctions they use, but its current rules and help pages don't say when they apply.

How to Appeal an R6 Ban With Ubisoft Support

An R6 ban appeal is a support case with Ubisoft, opened from the Ubisoft Help site while you're signed in. We found no dedicated Siege appeal form on Ubisoft's public pages, so the route runs through its contact page:

  1. Sign in to Ubisoft Help with the Ubisoft account that carries the penalty. If the account is locked or hacked, use Ubisoft's account recovery first.
  2. Choose Contact us and open a case for Rainbow Six Siege about the ban or sanction.
  3. Give the username of the sanctioned Ubisoft account and the reason you think the penalty is wrong. These are the two details Ubisoft's permanent-lock article asks for.
  4. Submit once and wait for the reply. Ubisoft warns that repeated or abusive contacts won't help an appeal.

The four steps of a Rainbow Six Siege ban appeal: sign in to Ubisoft Help with the sanctioned account, contact Ubisoft about Siege, give the username and your reason, and submit the case once.

Ubisoft doesn't publish how long a review takes. It also won't hand over the data behind a permanent lock, saying that sharing it would help players get around its systems, so don't expect a detailed explanation in the reply.

What to Put in a Rainbow Six Siege Appeal

A Rainbow Six Siege appeal should give Ubisoft's reviewers something to check, in a few short paragraphs. Ubisoft's own rules set the floor: appeals without the requested information are denied, and the account holder answers for all activity on the account.

  • The username of the sanctioned account, your platform, and the day the penalty showed up.
  • The penalty as Ubisoft described it, word for word from the email or the in-game message.
  • What happened around it: the mode, the match, and any disconnect or crash if it was a Ranked leave.
  • Evidence that fits the reason, such as a match clip, a crash log, or alerts showing someone else logged in.
  • If the account was hacked, what you did to secure it, including turning on 2-Step Verification, which Ubisoft recommends for every account.

Leave out anything you can't stand behind. Ubisoft's Core Rules list "providing false account information to evade restrictions or enforcement" as a violation, and its permanent-lock article notes that sharing account credentials breaks its Terms of Use. An appeal that says "my friend was playing" admits the second problem while trying to fix the first.

Ubisoft also explained on August 7, 2026 how manual cheating bans are made: the team reviews the evidence and backend data, and it never bans on a clip shared online alone. If you think a manual ban was wrong, say exactly which match or behavior you believe the reviewers misread.

R6 Bans Ubisoft Says It Cannot Lift

Some Rainbow Six Siege penalties come with Ubisoft's own statement that support can't remove them, so an appeal won't change the outcome:

  • MouseTrap bans. MouseTrap catches console players using an adapter that dresses up mouse and keyboard input as controller input. After several in-game warnings, Ubisoft issues a one-year ban and says it is unable to lift any MouseTrap ban.
  • Voice chat penalties. Ubisoft says it can't lift them; other players can unmute you, and the penalty shows in the Reputation tile on your profile.
  • Temporary locks on a Ubisoft account. Ubisoft says it can't remove them and emails you when the lock ends.
  • Decisions after a final review. Ubisoft says appeals sent after a final review may be ignored.

Rainbow Six Siege penalties an appeal can and cannot reach: MouseTrap bans and voice penalties are final, temporary locks expire on their own, and a wrongful ban or lock can be appealed with the username and a reason.

Cheating bans sit at the far end. Ubisoft's July 31, 2026 rules count software or hardware that gives an unfair advantage as cheating even if it isn't in active use during a match, and permanent sanctions, in Ubisoft's words, "mean exactly what they say."

BattlEye Bans and Siege's Anti-Cheat Today

Rainbow Six Siege used BattlEye for years, and BattlEye runs its own appeal desk for its global bans. BattlEye's support page says to send an appeal only through its contact form, quoting the global ban ID exactly plus the game's name, and it states that BattlEye's global bans are permanent for anyone who cheated. It also won't reveal the evidence behind a ban.

Which anti-cheat Siege runs right now is less clear than most guides suggest. Siege's Steam store page showed no anti-cheat notice on October 9, 2026, the day we looked. In its August 7, 2026 Community Checkpoint, Ubisoft said its own kernel-level anti-cheat, shared across Ubisoft games, would reach Siege in Season 3, and that players would be told about it when they launched the game. Season 3 started on September 1, 2026, but we haven't found a Ubisoft post confirming the new system is live or that BattlEye is gone.

The same update announced R6 Shieldguard for the Legend Division, which checks Secure Boot, Core Isolation and TPM, the security chip some anti-cheats now tie bans to. In practice, if your ban message carries a BattlEye global ban ID, appeal to BattlEye; for everything else, Ubisoft Support is the place.

Don't Work Around an R6 Ban

Rainbow Six Siege's Core Rules turn most workarounds into a second violation. The Player Protection Core Rules Ubisoft posted on July 31, 2026 list these as sanctionable:

  • Ban bypass: using another account to evade an existing ban.
  • Circumvention: attempting to bypass, disable or interfere with Ubisoft's detection, security or enforcement systems.
  • Spoofing: disguising a device's identity to look like a legitimate input device or to get around restrictions.
  • Unauthorized access: getting around regional, platform or service restrictions with unauthorized software or similar methods.

That rules out the shortcuts some guides still suggest, like a VPN or a fresh account. The rules also warn that actions outside the game which affect Ubisoft's enforcement systems can draw sanctions, and that serious breaches can end in a permanent ban on all accounts.

The same goes for hardware tools. Saturn's HWID spoofer for Rainbow Six Siege changes the hardware IDs a Windows PC reports, which is what bans that follow a PC instead of an account rely on. Ubisoft's rules, though, forbid using any tool to evade a Siege ban or interfere with its enforcement. A spoofer is not a way back after an R6 ban, and an appeal is the only route Ubisoft offers. A 24-hour Saturn trial needs only an email address.

Rainbow Six Siege Ban Appeal FAQ

Can you appeal a MouseTrap ban in Rainbow Six Siege?

No. Ubisoft's help page says it is unable to lift any MouseTrap ban. The ban follows several in-game warnings and lasts one year.

How long does a Rainbow Six Siege ban last?

It depends on the penalty. Temporary bans and locks end on their own, MouseTrap bans last one year, and permanent bans and permanent revocation of access don't end. Ubisoft's 2016 FAQ capped temporary cheating bans at 15 days, but Ubisoft's current pages don't give a fixed length.

Is there a limit on R6 ban appeals?

Ubisoft doesn't give a number. It says repeated or abusive contacts won't help, and that appeals sent after a final review may be ignored. Send one complete appeal.

Will a VPN or a new account get around an R6 ban?

No, and both make things worse. Ubisoft's Core Rules call using another account to evade a ban, and bypassing restrictions with unauthorized software, violations that can lead to bans on every account.

My account was hacked and then banned. Can I appeal?

Yes. Recover and secure the account first, turn on 2-Step Verification, then appeal with the evidence of the unauthorized logins. Ubisoft holds the account holder responsible for account activity, so the proof matters.

Where do I appeal a BattlEye ban in Siege?

Through BattlEye's own contact form, quoting the global ban ID and the game. Ubisoft Support handles the Ubisoft-side penalties.
