A League of Legends ban appeal is a ticket to Riot Player Support asking Riot to review a suspension, ban or restriction you believe it placed by mistake. Riot's League suspension FAQ, last updated June 2, 2026, lists a three-step route: submit a ticket, pick the request type for a personal suspension, ban or restriction, and fill in the details. Riot's support pages name no other appeal channel for League, such as an email address or an in-client button.

Whether the appeal goes anywhere depends on the penalty. Riot says Instant Feedback System penalties are generally not lifted or adjusted, a temporary suspension ends on its own when the timer runs out, and a few penalty types, such as false boosting flags and security locks, are ones Riot asks players to write in about. So the first job is finding out which penalty you have. The route, the wording and the fallback all follow from that.

Which League of Legends Bans Riot Will Review

Riot reviews a League of Legends ban when the ticket shows a mistake, and the League suspension and ban FAQ from Riot Support states the reverse just as clearly: correctly assigned penalties are never overturned. Before writing anything, check the League ban types and find yours on the Penalty Notification at login, because the type decides whether a ticket is worth the effort.

Penalty Will Riot review it? Best route
Chat restriction Rarely Wait it out
Behavior suspension Only if wrongly placed Ticket
Permanent ban Only if wrongly placed Ticket
Boosting or smurf ban Yes, if you think it was wrong Ticket
Security suspension Case by case Recovery, then ticket
Chargeback suspension Ends on repayment Billing ticket
Hardware (HWID) ban Re-evaluation possible One ticket per account

Behavior penalties are the hardest to move. They come from the Instant Feedback System, which acts within 15 minutes after the match ends, and Riot's FAQ for that system says suspensions for severe behavior "will not likely be reduced or removed." Account-rule bans are different. In its October 2025 enforcement FAQ, Riot told players who think a smurfing or boosting ban was a mistake to submit a ticket so Player Support can look, while adding that it expects such errors to be rare. Riot's Anti-Boost system covers Valorant as well, and a wrongful boosting ban there is handled through the same kind of ticket.

Graphic comparing League of Legends penalties Riot rarely reverses, such as Instant Feedback penalties and correctly placed bans, with ones worth a ticket, such as wrong boosting flags, security suspensions and repaid chargebacks.

How to Appeal a League of Legends Ban

To appeal a League of Legends ban, file a Riot Player Support ticket from the account that was penalized. Riot documents the route in its own words, and the steps below follow it without adding fields Riot does not publish:

  1. Sign in to Riot Support with the penalized Riot account, if the account can still sign in. A permanently suspended account can usually still open the client to read its notice.
  2. Choose Submit a Ticket.
  3. Pick the request type for discussing a personal suspension, ban or restriction. Riot's label starts with "Discuss a Personal Suspension".
  4. Fill in the form. Name the game, your Riot ID and region, and the penalty exactly as the notice shows it.
  5. Attach your evidence and submit. Send one ticket, then reply inside that ticket if Riot asks for more.

Third-party sites list extra dropdown values, such as a duration of "31+ days" for permanent bans. Riot does not publish those field names, and the form can differ by region, so pick whatever matches your penalty rather than copying a script. Valorant runs on the same Riot Support system, and appeals for Valorant bans follow a near-identical route if you play both games.

What to Write in a League Ban Appeal

A League ban appeal works best when it is short, specific and checkable. Riot already holds the chat logs behind a behavior penalty, so the ticket should point support to the exact game and say what the system got wrong.

  • Paste the Penalty Notification. Its Copy Text button copies the full notice, chat lines included. Riot says older notices cannot be viewed again, so copy it the first time you see it.
  • Name the match: the date, queue and champion, so support can find the game in your history.
  • State the error in two or three sentences, such as a disconnect flagged as intentional feeding, or a login from a country you have never visited.
  • Attach proof: screenshots, the copied notice, login alerts or purchase receipts that show the account is yours.
  • If you did say what the logs show, say so. An appeal that denies a logged message loses credibility with the rest of the ticket.

A Short Appeal Template

Copy this into the description field and replace the brackets. Keep it under 200 words.

Subject: Review request for a League of Legends penalty on [Riot ID]

Hello Player Support. My Riot ID is [Riot ID] on the [region] server. On [date], my account received a [chat restriction / 14-day suspension / permanent suspension] for [reason shown on the notice]. The full notice text is pasted below. I believe this penalty is a mistake because [one or two factual sentences]. The game in question was [queue, champion, approximate time]. I have attached [screenshots / login alerts / receipts]. Could you review the chat logs and match data for that game? Thank you for checking.

What Happens After You Send the Ticket

After a League ban appeal is sent, Riot Player Support reviews the case, and Riot's December 1, 2024 Terms of Service add that Riot may keep the account suspended during that review. Riot does not publish a response time for appeals, so any "3 days" figure you see online is a guess from a third party.

Does a Person Read the Appeal?

Riot's Terms of Service answer this directly. They describe enforcement by a mix of human moderators and automated tools, machine learning included, and they invite any player who spots a mistake to write to Player Support for a review. The first penalty is often automated. The appeal itself lands with Player Support as a ticket.

Keep it to one ticket per penalty and add new details inside it. For a hardware ban that hit more than one account, Riot asks for a separate ticket per account so each one gets its own review.

Hacked Account Bans Need Recovery First

A League account that was hacked and then banned has to be recovered before an appeal can help. Riot's support pages hold the owner responsible for all account activity, which means a ban someone else earned on it usually stands as a behavior ban. Recovery comes first:

  • Use Riot's Recover Your Account tool, which handles compromised accounts and can revert an unauthorized Summoner name change.
  • Turn on multi-factor authentication and secure the email address on the account.
  • Then open the ticket, explain the compromise with dates, and attach proof of ownership such as purchase receipts and the original email.

Riot also places security suspensions on its own when it spots suspicious activity, and says those vary by case. One limit is firm: Riot's recovery page states that permanently banned accounts cannot be recovered, and Riot only helps the original owner, so a bought or traded account gets no help.

When a League Ban Appeal Is Denied

A denied League of Legends appeal leaves different options depending on the penalty. Riot's FAQ describes permanent bans as exactly that, permanent.

Temporary Suspensions

A temporary League suspension ends when its timer runs out, so after a denial the practical move is to wait. Riot's temporary ban page warns that each new ban moves the account closer to a permaban. Chargeback suspensions are the exception with a clear exit: Riot restores access once the disputed balance is repaid, unless several chargebacks led to a permanent ban.

Permanent Bans

A permanent League ban that survives an appeal is final for that account. Penalty linking, live since November 19, 2025, means a new account you play on can inherit the penalty, so starting over on an alt is not a clean slate either.

Hardware Bans

An appeal on the account does not touch a League ban on your hardware, which Riot reviews separately as a re-evaluation. Riot says lifting one is possible but not promised, it will not lift one issued over a verified threat of harm, and accounts banned during it stay banned until the hardware ban period ends. While it runs, Riot bans accounts that log in on that PC on sight.

For the PC itself, Saturn is an option. Saturn is a Windows spoofer for hardware IDs, not a cheat, and Saturn for League of Legends clears the hardware ban on that machine by changing what Vanguard reads from the processor, TPM chip, motherboard and SMBIOS tables, memory, storage drives, graphics card, network adapter MAC, monitor EDID, USB devices and UEFI firmware, with dozens of further identifiers covered too. Picking between temporary or permanent HWID spoofing decides what you get: temporary mode keeps the ban cleared during each Saturn session and allows unlimited profiles, while permanent mode rewrites the IDs once on a single HWID profile. Saturn cannot reverse an account ban, and Riot treats play on a hardware-banned PC as evading the ban. The trial runs 24 hours, needs only an email address and takes no card.

League of Legends Ban Appeal FAQ

How do I appeal a League of Legends ban?

Sign in to Riot Support with the banned account, choose Submit a Ticket, and pick the request type for a personal suspension, ban or restriction. Describe the penalty, explain why it is wrong and attach evidence. Riot's support pages name no other appeal channel for League.

Can you appeal a permanent ban in League?

Yes, through the same Player Support ticket, but Riot only reverses a permaban it agrees was a mistake. Most permanent bans follow earlier warnings and suspensions, so most appeals against them fail.

How long does a League ban appeal take?

Riot does not publish an appeal response time. Its Terms of Service only say Player Support will review the case and that the account may stay suspended during the review.

Does Riot read League ban appeals or are they automated?

Riot's terms describe enforcement by people and automated systems together, and appeals go to Player Support as tickets. The penalty itself is often automated, especially chat penalties from the Instant Feedback System.

Can I appeal a chat restriction in League?

You can file a ticket, but Riot says Instant Feedback System penalties are generally not lifted or adjusted. A chat restriction lasts a set number of days, and waiting usually beats a ticket.

Can I appeal a League ban on an account I bought?

No. Buying accounts breaks Riot's Terms of Service, Riot bans purchased accounts, and Riot's page on suspended accounts says support only assists the person who created the account.
