Enabling Virtualization
Follow these steps to enable CPU virtualization in your BIOS settings
Important Note
- - Save and close all open programs
- - Different motherboard manufacturers have different BIOS layouts
- - The setting might be labeled as "SVM", "AMD-V", or "Intel VT-x"
Enter BIOS
- Restart your computer
- During startup, press the BIOS key repeatedly
- Common BIOS keys by manufacturer:
- ASUS: F2 or Delete
- MSI: Delete
- Gigabyte: F2 or Delete
- ASRock: F2 or Delete
- HP: F10
- Dell: F2 or F12
Intel Systems
Look for the virtualization setting under one of these locations:
- Advanced > CPU Configuration > Intel Virtualization Technology
- Advanced > System Configuration > Virtualization Technology
- Security > Virtualization
Set "Intel Virtualization Technology" or "VT-x" to [Enabled]
AMD Systems
Look for the virtualization setting under one of these locations:
- Advanced > CPU Configuration > SVM Mode
- Advanced > CPU Configuration > AMD-V
- Advanced > CPU Features > Virtualization
Enable "SVM Mode" or "AMD-V" depending on your BIOS version
Save and Exit
- Press F10 (or your BIOS's save key)
- Select "Yes" to save changes
- Wait for your computer to restart
- Virtualization will be enabled after restart
